What is the DFI?

Authors list

The DFI is an advanced real-time data store.

Indexing - At the heart of DFI is the ability to index across multiple attributes at scale.

Initially spatio-temporal - it is tuned specialised for spatio-temporal data, enabling searching across 3 space dimensions and a temporal dimension.

Real-time - it can handle massive amounts of data (10-100 billion records) in real time with concurrent ingestion and querying against both real-time and historic data.

Advanced - it supports features not typically available at scale, such as in an index. It handles complex querying like such as points-in-polygon, and in the future: proximity and k-nearest neighbours. It also handles aggregation: counts and unique devices.
